Australian authorities are investigating what could be the country’s worst mass shooting in more than two decades, after seven bodies were found with gunshot wounds.

Police are treating the incident as a murder-suicide, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

The bodies of three adults and four children were found at a property in the rural village of Osmington in the country’s southwest, according to the Associated Press. Two guns were also found. All seven people lived at the property, authorities said.

This is the second mass shooting in Australia since 1996, when a gunman killed 35 people and wounded 23 others in Tasmania. In response, the country enacted tough gun control laws and a gun buyback program.
