Bill Cosby was sentenced Tuesday to three to 10 years in state prison by a Pennsylvania judge for conviction of sexual assault in 2004, according to news reports.

“No one is above the law. And no one should be treated differently or disproportionately because of who they are or because of wealth, celebrity or even philanthropy,” Judge Steven O’Neill said Monday.

Cosby, who is legally blind, faced a maximum of 10 years in prison for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home 14 years ago.

Prosecutors on Monday requested that O’Neill sentence Cosby to five to 10 years behind bars. His defense team asked the judge to sentence Cosby only to house arrest.

O’Neill also denied Cosby’s defense team’s request for bail pending appeal.
