….

As Trump often does, he tried to personalize his stump speech so that his audience in Loudoun County really understood that he feels their pain.  He gets them.

So he spouted off the names of some factories in the area that had shut down, and businesses that had to close their doors.  People lost jobs.  He knows the details.  He feels their pain, obviously.

At one point he even told them, “You’re doing lousy over here, by the way, I hate to tell you.”

Well, there was only one problem.  One extremely embarrassing, awkward problem.

The factories he had just cited were not even in the area.  Some of them were three hours away.  Nobody in Loudoun County had been affected by any of the failed businesses he mentioned.  In fact, he’d be hard pressed to find anyone in Loudoun County affected by business failures, because Loudoun County is literally the richest county in America.  And he stood in front of them and told them they were doing poorly.

When faced with the opportunity to connect with the people in the area and turn the county red once more, Donald Trump presented them with doom and gloom.  He did this because he knows no other way.

Think about it: the only way Trump has managed to get this far in the election is by feeding off of other people’s desperation, their despair, their sadness, and most of all, their fears.

For those who have not read the Harry Potter series, a dementor is a dark creature that feeds on others’ happiness, basically sucks the happiness from their souls, and leaves them with only depression and despair.

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, dementors are described like this:

“Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth.  They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around them… Get too near a Dementor and every good feeling, every happy memory will be sucked out of you.  If it can, the Dementor will feed on you long enough to reduce you to something like itself… soulless and evil.  You will be left with nothing but the worst experiences of your life.”

There has never been a more perfect description of Donald Trump.  Everything that comes from his mouth is negative and nasty.  He leaves those around him feeling depressed, angry, and scared.  He drains happiness out of the air around him and replaces it with fear and despair.  Worst of all, he loves it. He thrives off of it.
