Rep. Dave Trott (R-Mich.) cited President Trump as a “factor” in why he decided not to seek reelection.
When asked during an interview with CNBC why he isn’t running again, Trott said “it’s not the right time” for him to be in Washington.
“We’re not that productive,” he said. “
And that certainly isn’t just a consequence of President Trump. They weren’t that productive before he ever got there, but it’s just not the right time for me to be serving.” Trott was pressed on whether Trump is also “part of the issue.”
“It’s a factor,” he said.
“We have different styles and I sometimes don’t understand some of the things he does and says,” he continued.
“It’s a very partisan environment and I think that problem has been exacerbated under President Trump.”
