Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) apologized to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) Thursday for joking that it was possible to get away with murdering the Texas senator if it happened in the Senate.

Graham’s remarks represent a truce of sorts between the two senators, who repeatedly feuded during their 2016 presidential runs, in part over what’s seen as Cruz’s persistent failure to win the respect of other senators.

Graham joked about the murder of his colleague in February, when Cruz was a Republican candidate in the presidential primary.

“If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you,” Graham said at the time.

But Graham’s tone had changed by Thursday, when the two appeared together on MSNBC.

“Love is everywhere,” Graham said.

“I want to apologize to Ted for saying he should be killed on the Senate floor.”

“At least we’re not on the Senate floor now,” Cruz said.
