Conservative media and GOP political strategists are in meltdown. Why? Because the numbers of the GOP’s presumptive nominee are so bad the pros know this is over and it stands to get worse. The most generous polling suggests a Clinton lead of 44-39.

Why are the numbers so bad? Forget about principles and ideology for now. Trump’s fatal flaw was a primary campaign based on Apprentice: annihilate your opponent one by one, week by week, with no regard for them, their organizations or core supporters. The real game is Survivor: outsmart, create alliances, and try not to get blood on your hands because those eliminated and their supporters get the final say. Simply put, Trump pushed Humpty off the wall and there’s no putting him back together again.

Don’t expect the money gap to close either; expect it to widen. Donors won’t throw good money after bad. Expect the money to go to the down ballot. Trump is too far behind and fading fast. If you know any GOP operatives, keep them away from windows. As the reality of demise sets in, they’ll be tempted to jump. This thing is all over but the counting and the only counting to be done is how many senate and house seats the GOP will lose.
