Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday that there’s a simple reason why President Trump won’t be eulogizing former President George H.W. Bush: They already have a president for the job.

“What people want to talk about is: Well why isn’t the president giving the eulogy? And it’s because we have a unique circumstance here. My brother was president,” Bush said of his brother, George W. Bush. “It’s like, I’m sorry. First dibs, as we used to say. I don’t know how to explain it other than that.”

The Florida Republican, who was a rival of Trump’s during the 2016 GOP primary campaign, spoke highly of Trump and first lady Melania Trump for the support they have given the Bush family throughout the week.

“The president and the first lady have been very gracious,” Bush told the Wall Street Journal CEO Council Summit Tuesday. “I think it’s been great.”

“They’ve been very kind and gracious,” he added about the Trumps.
