Special counsel Robert Mueller has requested another delay in Rick Gates’ sentencing because he “continues to cooperate with respect to several ongoing investigations, and accordingly the parties do not believe it is appropriate to commence the sentencing process at this time,” according to a Tuesday court filing.
Gates took a plea deal in February 2018, and he agreed to cooperate when he pleaded guilty to conspiracy against the United States and making a false statement to federal investigators.
His sentencing was delayed first in November, when the special counsel also cited ongoing cooperation.
The next status report deadline is March 15 to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Circuit.
