Paul Manafort had stronger financial ties to Russia than previously known

NBC News reported Friday evening that a $26 million loan was transferred to Cyprus entities linked to Manafort from the Russian oligarch and billionaire, Oleg Deripaska, who has deep connections to the Kremlin.

In August, Manafort was forced to resign from the Trump administration after he found himself at the center of alleged improper financial dealings, later landing him the hot seat of the federal investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible ties between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

With this latest report, Manafort’s known business dealings equal about $60 million over the past decade.
