Prince Philip has escaped unharmed from a car crash that left his vehicle overturned, according to Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of Edinburgh, 97, was driving a Range Rover out of a driveway near the Queen’s Sandringham estate, north of London, when it collided with another car, the BBC reported Thursday. Bystanders helped the British prince from the wreckage, telling the outlet he was not hurt, only “shocked and shaken.”

Philip, who has been staying with the Queen at their country estate since Christmas, was examined by a doctor as a precaution, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said, according to the Guardian. Two people in the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries.

The duke has remained active since officially retiring from public life in August 2017. Prior to that, he famously drove former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama from Marine One to Windsor Castle during their April 2016 visit.
