Steve Deace's Movie Review: Ben Hur

Saw the new Ben Hur movie and it’s a shame it’s not doing better at the box office, because it’s really well made. I wonder if the hatchet jobs done on Noah and Exodus recently scared audiences off?

That’s not to say it’s a great film, because it’s not in the same class as the Charlton Heston epic. However, it’s quality filmmaking and story telling with a point. I’d put it a notch below Risen from earlier this year. And the chariot scene is really, really well done. As far as kids are concerned, the only one of our kids that came with us was our son Noah, who is 9 and he loved it.
