President Trump downplayed an encounter he and his daughter Ivanka Trump had with controversial Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Argentina on Friday.

The crown prince was seen chatting with the Trumps before a group photo of world leaders was taken, the AFP reported.

“They exchanged pleasantries at the leaders’ session as he did with nearly every leader in attendance,” a senior White House official told the news outlet.

The president said they had “no discussion.”

“We might, but we had none,” he said.

The president and Ivanka Trump’s husband, Jared Kushner, have been under fire for their close relationship with the crown prince in the wake of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s murder and the CIA conclusion that it was ordered by the Saudi royal.

Trump has dismissed the U.S. intelligence community’s findings while defending the crown prince.
