Brad Parscale, Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, on Tuesday called for the ouster of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and an end to special counsel Robert Mueller’s sprawling Russia probe.
In a terse tweet, Parscale said that the Justice Department’s recently released inspector general report on the handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation gives Trump all the evidence he needs to take the highly controversial actions.
“Time to fire Sessions End the Mueller investigation You can’t obstruct something that was phony against you The IG report gives @realDonaldTrump the truth to end it all,” Parscale wrote.
Trump and his allies have seized on the report to argue that the Mueller probe is hopelessly corrupt and that the findings exonerate the president. However, the main conclusion of the report was that political bias did not impact the outcome of the Clinton probe, but that former FBI director James Comey broke from protocol.
