Deace: 2016: The Devil's Favorite Presidential Election

….

Each of them represents and is running on the worst things about human nature. Instead of making any attempt to inspire the American people to be better than we are, each of these three individuals is instead attempting to politically capitalize on the desperation and divisiveness wreaking havoc in our culture.

For Sanders, a self-described socialist, he’s running on straw men and turning the sin of covetousness into a political platform. Or the idea that it’s simply not fair that some people are better gifted and more talented than others, therefore they should have their prosperity redistributed to alleged victims as punishment for their success. Of course, it’s government that gets to choose who these victimized people are, and somehow those in government are immune to the frailties of human nature bedeviling those of us in the private sector.

….

In Clinton’s case the basis for her candidacy seems to be the worst of both worlds — identity politics and cronyism.

Because if there’s one thing worse than electing another tool of the corporatists, it’s electing one who offers the country nothing else besides, “Vote for me because I’m a woman.” I have two terrific daughters at home. My wife and I raise them to be strong and feminine. Not to let being female hold them back by an unjust world, but rather to be proud of the gender their Creator assigned them. At the same time not to think they’re entitled to something they haven’t earned just because of it, either.

….

Finally, this brings us to Trump, who is re-running the 2008 Barack Obama campaign, minus the inspiring speeches. Just run down the Obama check list:

  • Does Trump capitalize on a uniformed segment of the electorate by creating a cult of personality that insulates him from being properly vetted? Check. Just as it was with Obama, his hardcore followers can’t really tell you something specific they like about Trump. They’re just convinced he’s a secular messiah who has all the answers. “Hope and change” becomes “make America great again.”

  • Does Trump ruthlessly demagogue all opposition? Check. When you disagreed with Obama, you were automatically a racist, now if you disagree with Trump, you hate America.

  • Does Trump promise to fix all of our problems but offer no real specifics? Check. Remember how Obama’s healthcare fix sounded great until the bill came due?

Trump is running on victimology, too, just like Obama did. White nationalists/racists come out of the woodwork to defend Trump on social media whenever I criticize him. Whatever language Trump is speaking at his rambling, stream of consciousness rallies seems to be these folks’ dog whistle.

Bottom line: If these are the three best choices we have, America loses regardless of who wins.

Not a day goes by that I don’t check Steve Deace’s Twitter feed. The guy nails it every time.

Trump supporters are willingly joining with evil. They’re not going to like the eventual results.

Whirlwind, thank you for posting that. I just beg God not to give us the leader we deserve, and to allow Cruz to lead us instead.

    Whirlwind #1683

Silver Pines, I know in my heart that there are many fellow Americans who are praying that Cruz wins the presidency. They are well aware that this great Republic cannot take four more years like we have had the last seven. But to many of our country men are going down the road that will lead to the founding principles of this nations destruction. They truly do not seem to care or worry about the consequences of who they will vote for. It is truly frightening to see and watch it happen.

Whirlwind, earlier this evening I said to my husband that I have never seen anything like it. I go around every day in a constant state of shock that DONALD TRUMP is the frontrunner instead of Ted Cruz.

I think of how hard Cruz has worked for this, and how decent he is, and it’s difficult to take.

    Whirlwind #1689

Silver Pines, you mentioned about your constant shock of why Trump. I ask myself the same thing also. I know the American people are very angry at what is happening in Washington. We all have the same anger, frustration, but there is something else besides this going on. I know Washington is manipulating the people in a certain direction, they use the news to help them with this. Is America’s time finally coming to an end as a great nation, the Shining City on a Hill that President Reagan talked about for other nations to look to. Is Cruz our last hope of trying to stop the nation from going over the edge. I think the answer is yes, than the answer why Trump or Hillery becomes much more clearer. I believe Christians know the answer why.

Senator Cruz is trying his best to save America from her destruction. You can catch the sadness in his eyes at times, like he is carrying such a heavy burden on his shoulders. He knows that the stakes are high, the end results if he looses are deadly to the constitution and this Republic. He must be both physically and mentally exhausted. He needs our prayers.

Me, too! He really gets it and has great wit, as well! But, he delivers the TRUTH, which needs to be said. I know that many in the GOP do not like his opinions, but I;d rather hear the truth than be deceived. The day is quickly coming when many (most) will be deceived by the antichrist and not realize they have bought into the deception. I think of the many who are running after Trump like idiots and I grieve what they are bringing on us all. I wonder how long to will take before they quit making excuses for him, should he win?

I’m still praying Ephesians 6:10-18 and STANDING!

Pray for righteousness to be restored and for the peace of Jerusalem

    slhancock1948 #1692

Yes, Whirlwind, you are right! It is the end, but many do not see it that way. You know, when you chase after the things of this world, like Trump promises, you will settle for less than the best. God has the best awaiting that day when He calls us home. It is not here, but we still need to fight for godliness, for righteousness, for the soul of our country. Trump is not worried for his own soul because he thinks he is equal to God. THAT is an antitrust spirit. Those who follow after him are being deceived. Even believers. If they trust Trump instead of trusting God to work His good through Cruz, then their concept of God is wrong. We are to opt for godly men and let God fight our battles, not select those who brag the most about making America great again. Trump cannot even stay on focus to say what his core values are twice in a row, and lies arrogantly! Pride cometh before a fall.

Yes, Silver Pines, Yes! I pray that, too! Every day!

Pray for righteousness to be restored and for the peace of Jerusalem

    silver pines #1745

Whirlwind, thank you for reminding me, and all of us, that Ted really does need our prayers now.

I agree with everything you said. The hysterical mass embracing of Trump is a precursor to something else, and I think it’s beyond our control. I saw JimRob refer to it as “righteous anger”….well, it might have started out that way, but turning to Trump wiped out all righteousness and made it a dive into a moral sewer.

“Those who follow after him are being deceived. Even believers. If they trust Trump instead of trusting God to work His good through Cruz, then their concept of God is wrong. We’ve cried for a king and now we’re getting exactly what we deserve.
