I trained for my RN in Brooklyn, graduated in 1970. Met my husband at church (he was sent to training school at Governor’s Island -Coast Guard) and when he was sent to Va Beach, I followed and we got married. I did not intend to raise my kids in NYC. I was there at a good time, but things were changing then. NY values are very different from where I came from before my nurse’s training. I grew up in Kokomo, IN. NY was a whole different world. Even then.
