A 12-year-old boy in Muskegon Heights, Mich., has gone viral after video captured him addressing his city’s rampant pothole problem all by himself.

Monte Scott told local news station WZZM-TV that he has filled 15 potholes after his mother’s and grandma’s cars were damaged driving on the roads and had to be repaired.

“I didn’t want people messing up their cars like my mom did,” Scott said. “If somebody were to drive down the street and hit a pothole, and then would have to pay like $600-700 to get their car fixed, they would be mad.”

A Facebook video that has since garnered more than 58,000 views shows Scott carrying a shovel and trash can full of dirt, temporarily filling the potholes. In the video, passersby can be heard praising him for the work.

“You’re gonna be something too, you’re a hard worker,” a man is heard saying to Scott.

Trinell Scott, Scott’s mother, told WZZM-TV that her son did not tell anyone he was planning to fix the potholes and she only found out about it when someone first sent her the video. She said her son wants to fill all the potholes near the family’s home.
