An Amtrak train carrying 183 passengers has been stranded in a remote area of Oregon since Sunday evening.

Traveling from Seattle to Los Angeles, Starlight Train 11 hit a tree that had fallen on the tracks near Oakridge, Ore., around 6 p.m. No one was injured in the incident, but because of the inclement winter weather there has not yet been an effort to safely evacuate everyone on-board.

Lack of food appears to be an issue as the passengers remain stranded into Tuesday. One passenger told KOIN 6 News the snack cart on her section of the train has been depleted and that people have run out of diapers.

Further compounding the issue, it appears cellphone reception in the area is limited. Amtrak decided to hold passengers on the train, as electricity is out in nearby Oakridge

Amtrak says it has been working to keep passengers comfortable by providing free food and water as those on the train await help to arrive.
