A reminder progressivism is a cult, starring the UN, Wonder Woman, and George Stephanopoulos’ wife

….

After designating the comic book character less than two months ago as an honorary U.N. ambassador, the U.N. has already folded on its initial belief that “Wonder Woman’s character is the most iconic and well known female comic book superhero in the world, known for her strength, fairness and compassion, and her commitment to justice, peace and equality.”

Of course, to the sane, that sounds like just what Aleppo and many a dark corner of the world needs. But never underestimate a global bureaucrat’s ability to pull the grotesquely dumb out of any situation.

Rather than inspire with a fictional heroine, the feminist nags immediately chose to tilt at windmills instead. Many U.N. staffers actually turned their backs to the announcement ceremony for Wonder Woman, and it was all downhill from there. A petition was issued that chastised Wonder Woman for being “a large breasted, white woman of impossible proportions, scantily clad in a shimmery, thigh-baring body suit with an American flag motif and knee high boots — the epitome of a ‘pinup’ girl.”

Wait, you forgot the part about righteous butt-kicker. No, you didn’t? Ah, I get it, you just don’t care about anything righteous.

It is alarming that the United Nations would consider using a character with an overtly sexualized image at a time when the headline news in United States and the world is the objectification of women and girls. Having strong (living, breathing) female role models is a critical aspect of the goal of empowerment of women and girls.

And 45,000 signatures later, Wonder Woman was sent packing.

She really never stood a chance. Not with actual progressive role models like George Stephanopoulos’ wife and 14-year-old daughter walking the earth and immediately lamenting how Donald Trump could one day prevent her from executing her unborn child. How’s that for real life, Aleppo? We’ve got first-world victimology to consider over here. You wouldn’t understand, though. Get back to us when you are done holding on for dear life.

I wish I were exaggerating. While the Aleppos of the world don’t necessarily start because of such mental garbage, they quite often aren’t stopped or are perpetuated into further chaos, because those who would otherwise be rendering aid are too busy investigating the quality and amount of lint in their navel. While lives are at stake, they’re too busy fiddling while Rome burns. Wish-casting Lena Dunham as the Amazonian superhero rather than Gal Gadot, because priorities or something.

When you are more intimidated or irritated by Wonder Woman’s curves, spangles, and feminine wiles than you are appreciative of her awesome symbolic power and altruistic sense of duty, you really need to get the heck out of the way and let the grown-ups take charge again.
