Bono is bringing his well wishes for House Majority Whip Steve Scalise straight to Capitol Hill, as he signed a card for the wounded Louisiana Republican Wednesday while meeting with top lawmakers.
The U2 frontman met with House GOP leaders Wednesday afternoon in the ceremonial Speaker’s office, just off the House floor. Among the lawmakers the politically active singer huddled with: Speaker Paul Ryan (Wisc.), House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) and House GOP Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (Wash.). The lawmakers’ offices would not comment on the focus of the star-studded meeting.
Earlier in the day, Bono met with Scalise’s staff in the injured congressman’s office. The majority whip was one of five people wounded during a shooting last week at the GOP team’s practice in Alexandria, Va., for the annual Congressional Baseball Game.
Bono, 57, was eyed signing a card for Scalise, who was upgraded to “fair” condition by hospital officials on Wednesday.

Bono, who performed at a U2 concert in Washington on Tuesday night, said during the show that he was “so grateful” Scalise and others “made it through.”
“We hold them up as love holds us all up,” Bono told the crowd.
