“Aladdin” is experiencing a whole new world in operating a Broadway show during a pandemic — shuttering temporarily just a day after reopening, after some involved in the production tested positive for COVID-19.

“Through our rigorous testing protocols, breakthrough COVID-19 cases have been detected within the company of ‘Aladdin’ at the New Amsterdam Theatre,” a Wednesday message on the show’s website said.

The Broadway musical based on the 1992 Disney film canceled its performance that night, citing the “wellness and safety of our guests, cast and crew” as its “top priority.”

……..

“Aladdin” had only been open for a day before shutting down again due to the breakthrough COVID-19 cases, when fully vaccinated individuals contract the coronavirus.
