Sen. Ted Cruz may not be running for president anymore, but he’s calling for all Americans to “unite in defeating radical Islamic terrorism.”

“Enough is enough. What we need is for every American — Democrat and Republican — to come together, abandon political correctness, and unite in defeating radical Islamic terrorism,” the Texas Republican said in a lengthy call to action on Sunday.

Cruz’s statement came as the Orlando community reels from a shooting overnight on Sunday in a nightclub, leaving at least 50 dead, including the shooter, and more than 50 hospitalized.Authorities have identified the shooter in the attack as Omar Mateen, a man who reportedly in a 911 call pledged allegiance to ISIL.

“ISIS doesn’t just target soldiers. They don’t target Republicans. Or Jews. They also target Christians and fellow Muslims,” Cruz said. “ They target each and every one of us. As we saw this morning, they target the gay and lesbian community. Their objective, which they broadcast worldwide, is to murder or forcibly convert every single American.”

He went on to list a number of things a commander in chief and Congress should do, including passing the Expatriate Terrorist Act.

….

Cruz further predicted that Democrats would “try to exploit this terror attack to undermine the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms of law-abiding Americans.”
