Cruz: Trump Might Be Only Person ‘On the Face of the Planet’ Hillary Clinton Could Beat
Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) took a shot at Donald Trump’s electability argument Sunday on Face The Nation, suggesting Trump might be the only person “on the face of the planet” that Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton could defeat in a general election.
With the GOP race increasingly looking like a two-man race between Cruz and Trump after they won a pair of states each on Saturday and distanced themselves from the field, Cruz sharpened his tone against the frontrunner.

“The media knows Donald can’t win the general, that Hillary would wallop him,” Cruz said. “Donald may be the only person on the face of the planet that Hillary Clinton can beat, and all of the attacks on Donald that the media’s not talking about now, come September, October, November, if he were the nominee, every day on the nightly news would be taking Donald apart, and the stakes are too high for us to risk that.”
