Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Wednesday used a playful exchange with another senator to tweet a reference to the once-popular meme alleging that he is the Zodiac killer.
Cruz shared a image with the infamous California serial killer’s cryptography as he and Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) joked on Twitter about Sasse accidentally dumping a can of Dr. Pepper on Cruz during a Senate hearing Wednesday.
Sasse apologized during Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s Senate hearing Wednesday for “creating a distraction” when he spilled the soda on Cruz.
Cruz then tweeted an image of a fridge full of Dr. Pepper, saying Sasse was “cut off” from the supply.
“Please place a picture of @BenSasse above the @drpepper fridge in our lobby. He is now cut off,” Cruz tweeted.

The Nebraska senator also joked that he was wearing a ” ‘Lee Harvey Oswald Was Framed’ t-shirt” when he spilled the soda on Cruz, referring to President Trump’s past unfounded claims that Cruz’s father was linked to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Cruz replied with an image resembling one of the cryptic notes the Zodiac killer sent to police in the late 1960s and early 1970s, featuring the killer’s symbol at the bottom of the page.
