Dem on Trump releasing JFK files: ‘Does this mean Ted Cruz’s father will be exposed?’
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) joked on Saturday that President Trump’s decision to release classified documents on the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy would out the father of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) as a conspirator in the event.
“Does this mean Ted Cruz’s father will be exposed?” Schiff tweeted in response to the president’s announcement that he would not block the release of the documents, which are set for release next week after years of delays.
.@POTUS, does this mean Ted Cruz’s father will be exposed? https://t.co/RGbozDUgOR

Other social media users made similar joking references to Trump’s claim from the 2016 presidential race when he linked then-GOP rival Ted Cruz’s father to Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who shot JFK.
Trump used the attack against the Texas senator after a National Enquirer report claimed that Cruz’s father Rafael and Oswald had been photographed together before the fatal shooting in 1963.
I'd be pretty worried if I were Raphael Cruz. Also maybe Ted Cruz. https://t.co/258RWad5M8

Thousands of classified documents on the JFK assassination are set to be released by the National Archives by Oct. 26, in compliance with the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992. It includes 3,000 documents never before seen by the public and more than 30,000 that were previously available but had significant portions redacted.
