Every dog adopted in Florida shelter for the first time in its history

Staff are thanking everyone involved in the “amazing milestone.”

More people have been fostering and adopting pets from animal shelters during the coronavirus pandemic  — a small silver lining as the world battles the outbreak. And in one Florida city, residents are particularly stepping up. 

Fox 5 reports that in West Palm Beach, every dog in an animal shelter has now found a new home after a record number of adoptions. 

The Friends of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control shelter announced “the amazing milestone” on Tuesday in a Facebook post

The shelter has three kennels total. The kennel that has been completely emptied usually houses strays and overflows from the adoption kennel. This is the first time every animal in that kennel has been adopted. 

Friends of Palm Beach County Animal Care staff said that in the main kennel, there are still a few dogs available for adoption, along with several cats, two horses and a pig named Charlotte.
