Donald Trump may have won the 2016 presidential election, but it seems Jeb Bush is winning over his Education Department.

In a statement Wednesday, the agency announced that former Bush aide Josh Venable has been hired on as Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’s chief of staff.

Like Bush, DeVos has labeled herself as being a supporter of school choice.

Venable had worked for Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education as national director of advocacy and legislation. He later was brought in to help DeVos in the transition process.

Venable’s hiring comes after another former Bush employee, Carlos Muniz, was nominated to serve as DeVos’s general counsel at the end of March.

New Mexico Education Secretary Hanna Skandera, another former Bush staffer who served as his deputy education commissioner while Bush was governor of Florida, was rumored to be in consideration for assistant secretary of education for the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education. That idea was reportedly scrubbed because of GOP concern over her support for the Common Core standards.
