The Trump ally tells the Democratic leader the proceeding against a former president is unconstitutional and will impede “the healing of this great nation.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) asked Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) in a letter on Sunday to support a vote to dismiss the House’s article of impeachment against President Donald Trump on a charge of incitement of violence.

“We will be delaying indefinitely, if not forever, the healing of this great nation if we do otherwise,” warned Graham, a top Trump ally. “Our obligation to the people we represent is clear. History will judge us harshly, as it should, if we do not rise to the occasion of this historic moment in our history.”

No. There can be no “healing” until and unless Trump is convicted in the senate. Graham and the rest of Trump’s cult in the Republican party must confess that the whole “stolen election” theory was a lie, that by spreading that lie, they played a part in promoting the attempted violent coup of January 6 and for that part, they must suffer the appropriate consequences along with Trump and the rest of his enablers

Even then I don’t see how too many can “heal.” The party has betrayed its supporters and betrayed America. I doubt any of that can be forgiven.
