Latest: Cumberland authorities weigh charging Trump following rally violence Rea

Last week, Trump visited Concord and Fayetteville in rallies that attracted thousands of attendees. During the rally in Fayetteville, a protester was assaulted as he was escorted from Crown Coliseum by police. A Linden man was later charged in the incident, and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office investigators said Monday that they are considering filing a charge of inciting a riot against Trump.

    I don’t know if Trump will be charged, or if he is, whether the charge will stick. Freedom of speech is not absolute, and if his speech can be proven to have resulted in harm to a person, he may not be able to assert freedom of speech as a defense. But the exceptions to freedim of speech are actually rare and if Trump is charged, he most likely will skate

    He and his supporters are asking for a tragedy. In a perfect word, the thugs from Black Lives Matter/Moveon.org would be in prison, but so long as they are allowed to run amok, Trump would be wise to tone down the rhetoric before someone is killed.

    Unfortunately, Trump and his supporters are not known for their wisdom.
