Corey Lewandowski said Sunday the Russian election meddling “issue is officially dead” after President Trump discussed the issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin during their closed-door meeting at the G-20 summit.

“Now, the president is taking this issue directly to the president of Russia and raised it, so now I think the issue is officially dead,” Lewandowski, who served as Trump’s campaign manager, said on “Fox & Friends.”

Lewandowski pointed to Putin’s denial of interfering in the presidential election.

He said Trump went straight to Putin, “and pressed him very tough to find out if Russia had anything to do with the outcome of the U.S. election.”

“And from what Vladimir Putin said, the answer is ‘no,'” Lewandowski added.

Lewandowski also went after the press for creating a “false narrative” and former President Obama for doing “nothing” after being briefed last year that Russia may attempt to interfere.

“Well, you guys know this better than anybody, but the mainstream media and the liberal left wants to continue to perpetuate a false narrative,” he said.

“What we now know is that Barack Obama was the one who was informed in August of last year, before the election that Russia was trying to interfere in the elections and did nothing about it,” Lewandowski continued.
