French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday criticized President Trump over his decision to withdraw U.S. forces from Syria, saying that “an ally should be dependable.”

Macron added that fighting “shoulder to shoulder” is the “most important thing for a head of state.”

“I very deeply regret the decision made on Syria,” Macron said during a news conference, according to Reuters.

“To be allies is to fight shoulder to shoulder. It’s the most important thing for a head of state and head of the military,” he added. “An ally should be dependable.”

Macron also emphasized that Kurdish forces in Syria, whom the U.S. forces have supported, have done important work, Reuters reported.

“I call on everyone … not to forget what we owe them,” he said.

Well, President Macron, you can forget about your one time ally, the US. Under this president, loyalty from you and your people is expected, but do not depend on this president and the US to reciprocate. Trump would rather favor ruthless dictators and enemies of freedom.
