The National Football League is feeling the impact of the “Trump Effect.”

Ticket sales since he called on team owners to fire players who take a knee to protest the National Anthem have cratered.

The online ticket reseller TickPick told Secrets that sales have dropped 17.9 percent, far more than the usual Week Three fall.

From TickPick:

– 17.9 percent decrease in NFL orders this week compared to the previous week.

– Last year the drop was 10.8 percent in orders on Monday & Tuesday following Week Three games.

“We have seen a massive decrease in NFL ticket purchases this past week in comparison to years past. Week 3 seems to usually have less ticket orders than week 2, but this year ticket purchases are down more than 7 percent from this time last year,” said TickPick’s Jack Slingland.

They can try to blame this on Trump and of course they will. But this one is on them. From the feedback I’m hearing from Packer fans here it’s the players choosing not to stand for the NA who are to blame.

These shenanigans started well before Trump stuck his nose into the controversy. All he did was fan the flames and he is now being used as an excuse to spread the supposed protests.

Pittsburgh is an odd city — liberal like most big cities, but still has small town values. People here still believe in God and country. They don’t tolerate disrespect for the flag. Last Sunday, all but one player chose to stay off the field for the National Anthem. Despite statements from players, coaches and the spineless owner that this stunt was not meant as a sign of disrespect for flag and country, fans are burning their gear and taking to talk radio and the news condemning the team. Law enforcement and veterans groups have also weighed in and they are not happy. The Steelers, knowing that this outrage may translate into a major hit in the pocketbook, are now promising to be on the field and standing for the Anthem. Whether fans forgive the Steelers remains to be seen.
