The New York City Bar Association (NYCBA) on Wednesday ordered Attorney General William Barr to recuse himself from any future or current Department of Justice review regarding the Trump administration’s conduct with the Ukrainian government.

“We hope that Mr. Barr will act promptly to remedy, at least in part, his prior failure to recuse himself from the Ukraine Matter,” the association said in a statement.

The NYCBA  continued: “If he fails either to recuse himself or to resign, Mr. Barr should be subject to appropriate Congressional sanctions, including possible removal from office, in order to restore the Office of the Attorney General and the DOJ to their historic roles as defender of the law on behalf of the American people.”

Barr was mentioned in the whistleblower complaint that centered around President Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksky. The complaint became the catalyst for the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry launched last month.

Specifically, the whistleblower alleges that Trump told Zelensky that Barr would be in contact to speak further about Zelenksy opening an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.
