Trump’s one-time deputy campaign manager pleaded guilty last year to financial fraud and lying to investigators, and then flipped on his colleagues.

Rick Gates, Donald Trump’s one-time deputy campaign manager, received 36 months of probation on Tuesday after pleading guilty last year to financial fraud and lying to investigators.

Gates will also serve 45 days in jail on weekends or in accordance with the schedule of the probation office.

The relatively light sentence was Gates’ reward for extensive cooperation with special counsel Robert Mueller’s team. Gates’ public testimony helped Mueller net convictions against two former Trump campaign aides, Michael Flynn and Roger Stone.
