Ryan breaks with Trump on Arpaio pardon

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) disagrees with President Trump’s decision to pardon former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.

“The speaker does not agree with the decision,” Ryan’s spokesman Doug Andres told The Wall Street Journal. “Law-enforcement officials have a special responsibility to respect the rights of everyone in the United States. We should not allow anyone to believe that responsibility is diminished by this pardon.”

The White House announced on Friday the president would pardon Arpaio, who had been found guilty of racially profiling.

Arpaio was scheduled to be sentenced in October.

Trump’s decision to spare Arpaio has stirred controversy on both sides of the political aisle.

Ryan and the rest of the politicians should just shut up. I don’t know if the pardon was the right thing to do, but the fact is, the sheriff has been pardoned and the pardon can’t be undone. Time for all these hysterical snowflakes to just let it go.

By the way, where were all these whiners when Obama issued his pardons? How about the GITMO releases? Did they say anything then? How about some of the pardons other presidents issued? I’m reasonably sure there were some who didn’t deserve a pardon.

It’s all political posturing. Trump is flaunting his inflated ego and the Republicans are trying to flaunt theirs. Enough people. Stop issuing worthless statements and get busy doing your job.
