NEW YORK — Appearing on FOX Business Network’s Varney & Co. Wednesday , Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke supported Senator Ted Cruz’s call to “patrol and secure” Muslim neighborhoods in the wake of last week’s Brussels bombings.
When asked by the program’s host if he would implement a similar strategy, Clarke replied “sure, and we’re already doing it,” citing the Handschu agreement , a set of guidelines that regulate police in New York City:

The sheriff also argued Muslim neighborhoods should not be considered “no-go zones,” saying they’re “not fair to the Muslim communities.”
“We have to be in those communities, use Muslim officers that understand the language…they understand the religion, they understand the customs and traditions in those neighborhoods.”
