“Saturday Night Live” returned over the weekend, spoofing a Michigan House hearing on voter fraud allegations attended by President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani during the show’s cold open.
Comedian Kate McKinnon played Giuliani, acting out his various claims of voter fraud. During the hearing earlier in the week, Giuliani called several witnesses to testify who say they saw voter fraud occur during the November election.
One of Giuliani’s witnesses was Melissa Carone, whose forceful statements and combativeness with state lawmakers caused a buzz on social media.
Comedian Cecily Strong used Carone’s testimony to reprise a previous bit: “the Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party.”
In the spoof, Strong’s Carone tells state lawmakers that as a contractor for Dominion Voting Systems, she witnessed dead people vote, questioned the state’s handling of ballots and proclaimed she signed an “after David,” a play on affidavits Trump’s legal team said numbered in the hundreds of witnesses who claim they witnessed fraud during the election.
