New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said “victims” of Trump University will “receive the relief they deserve,” after a federal judge finalized a settlement between President Trump and former attendees of Trump University.

“Judge Curiel’s order finalizing the $25 million Trump University settlement means that victims of Donald Trump’s fraudulent university will finally receive the relief they deserve. We are particularly pleased that the final settlement we negotiated with class counsel ensures that members of the class will receive an even higher settlement than anyone originally anticipated,” Schneiderman said.

“This settlement marked a stunning reversal by President Trump, who for years refused to compensate the victims of his sham university,” he added. “My office won’t hesitate to hold those who commit fraud accountable, no matter how rich or powerful they may be.”

U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel finalized the decision Monday, after a federal appeals court rejected a former student’s opposition to the settlement in an attempt to seek a separate lawsuit.

Trump University claimed attendees would be provided insight from Trump on how to succeed in real estate, but plaintiffs in the case accused Trump of false advertising and said it was inaccurate to claim the program was a “university” when the program was not accredited.

The settlement sounds like a nice chunk of money. However, it depends on how many people will share in this settlement, plus attorneys and costs which will be deducted from the settlement. I suspect this settlement won’t be the windfall some might expect.
