Ty Cobb out as Trump moves to hire Clinton impeachment lawyer

President Trump plans to replace White House lawyer Ty Cobb with Emmet Flood, who represented former President Clinton during his impeachment proceedings. 

The White House said Cobb would be retiring at the end of May.

“For several weeks Ty Cobb has been discussing his retirement and last week he let Chief of Staff Kelly know he would retire at the end of this month,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.

The New York Times reported Wednesday that Flood will replace Cobb.

Cobb had been seen as losing influence on Trump’s legal team in recent weeks as the president reshaped his team and looked at a new approach toward special counsel Robert Mueller.
