British Prime Minister Boris Johnson got married in a private ceremony on Saturday, according to multiple reports.

According to The Telegraph, Johnson married fiancée Carrie Symonds at Westminster Cathedral.

The couple reportedly sent “save the dates” to family and friends for a separate celebration of their marriage in July 2022.

A staff member at the cathedral told the news outlet that they discovered who was getting married just a day before the wedding.

The ceremony makes Johnson the first prime minister to get married while in office in roughly 200 years, The Telegraph noted. The couple had been engaged since late 2019.

The Daily Mail reported that Saturday’s ceremony had been planned for six months. Only 30 guests were invited to the ceremony under COVID-19 protocol, and they were reportedly invited at the last minute.
