United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May on Friday announced she is resigning on June 7 after again failing to find support for her Brexit plan to withdraw from the European Union by an Oct. 31 deadline.

Her departure triggers a leadership contest in the Conservative Party.

“I will shortly leave the job that has been the honor of my life to hold,” May said on Friday outside her Downing Street official residence. “The second female prime minister, but certainly not the last.”

I feel badly for PM May. She had a situation similar to what goes on in DC — people fighting among themselves and with the opposition, so nothing gets done. Whoever takes over from PM May will have the same problem. I just hope that person has the wherewithal to knock some heads together if need be.
