The acting United States ambassador to the United Kingdom split with President Trump on Sunday by praising London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s response to the attacks in England.
“I commend the strong leadership of the @MayorofLondon as he leads the city forward after this heinous attack,” Lewis Lukens tweeted from the U.S. embassy’s account.
At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is "no reason to be alarmed!"

The tweet was paired with an interview of Khan gave earlier in the day. Trump later cricitized the comments Khan made in that interview.
“At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!'” he wrote, leaving out the context of Khan’s interview.

“Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days,” Khan said.
“There’s no reason to be alarmed. One of the things the police and all of us need to do is ensure that we’re as safe as we possibly can be,” he continued, adding that London “will never let terrorists win.”
