Capitol Hill’s police force is preparing for protests ahead of the potential indictment of Donald Trump.

The preparations are in line with their planning for other protests.

Getting ready: The Capitol Police are girding for the possibility of protests ahead of the potential indictment of former President Donald Trump, according to two people familiar with the situation. Their security posture will be elevated starting Tuesday morning, the people said, and bicycle rack-type fencing could also be deployed.

The same type of fencing was spotted last week before President Joe Biden went to the Capitol for a St. Patrick’s Day lunch with congressional leadership and Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.

What the intel says: Police intelligence suggested, though, that more protests would occur around Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago and in New York City, rather than the Capitol, according to the people familiar with the situation. The former president has called for mass protests ahead of his potential arrest this week on charges stemming from payments to a porn star.
