Ex-Watergate prosecutor: ‘Corrupt intent up the wazoo’

Former U.S. Attorney Nick Akerman, who prosecuted the Watergate case, says fired FBI Director James Comey’s testimony about his conversations with President Trump establishes “corrupt intent up the wazoo.”

“Look at the pretext, the reason that they gave to fire Comey in the first place,” Akerman said Thursday on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes.”

He noted the White House initially said Comey was fired after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein recommended the move, before Trump acknowledged publicly it was because of the FBI’s investigation into Russian election interference.

“This was because of the Rosenstein memo. Well, Trump later admits that was pretext. But to investigate all of that and find out what people knew, what they said, who knew what and when — you have corrupt intent up the wazoo here.”
