Former Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke reportedly missed out on a position at the White House because of President Trump’s new chief of staff.
Clarke had previously been in talks about a job in the Department of Homeland Security last month when Kelly was still secretary. The sheriff claimed to have rescinded his acceptance.
A source told the Daily Beast that Kelly’s newfound presence at the White House made a second possible job for Clarke a “non-starter.”
