Here’s the latest: Kimberly Guilfoyle turned over documents to the Jan. 6 committee but may soon face a subpoena after her interview with them was halted, according to committee spokesperson Tim Mulvey.
“Ms. Guilfoyle has information of interest to the Select Committee and has provided documents germane to our investigation,” Mulvey said in a statement. They hoped she would take part in a voluntary interview Friday, but after she declined to do so, Mulvey said the committee would be forced to “compel her testimony at an upcoming deposition.”
Guilfoyle’s side: A statement released Friday by Guilfoyle’s attorney Joseph Tacopina slammed the committee for the leaks about the interview, saying they were only interested in using “today’s interview as a political weapon against President Trump and those who support him.” Tacopina’s statement also confirmed the panel had subpoenaed Guilfoyle’s phone records. He later said in an email the interview was called off “once the leak occurred.” Multiple media outlets had reported Guilfoyle’s interview while it was in progress.
Why her testimony matters: The former Fox News star and fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. reportedly played a role in organizing and fundraising for the Jan. 6 rally on the National Mall that preceded the attack on the Capitol.
