New York state attorney general investigating Eric Trump Foundation

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office announced on Friday that it is looking into the Eric Trump Foundation after a recent Forbes article raised questions about whether the foundation violated state laws.

“The attorney general’s office is looking into the issues raised by this report,” Eric Soufer, the New York state attorney general’s communications director, told Forbes.

Eric Trump said his father allows him to use Trump-owned locations like golf courses for free for fundraisers, so 100 percent of the profits can go to charities like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

But a Forbes article published online Tuesday suggested that Donald Trump charged his son money for the use of the golf course, and used the Donald J. Trump Foundation to “funnel $100,000 in donations into revenue for the Trump Organization.” It also suggested that the Eric Trump Foundation re-donates some money originally intended to go to St. Jude’s to charities with Trump business connections.
