Scaramucci sets a new record for shortest Trump admin posting

You thought Sean Spicer and Reince Priebus were out quick after just six months on the job. And former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, out after just 23 days, seemed sure to win the prize in this category.

But no. Meet Anthony Scaramucci, who after five days at work is being removed as White House communications director.

Scaramucci’s departure comes just 10 days after President Trump announced he was hiring him as communications director, and it was Trump’s new chief of staff, John Kelly, who requested he be removed.

……

The removal of Scaramucci at Kelly’s insistence is the clearest sign yet that Trump really is empowering Kelly. Perhaps he has embraced the idea that a more conventional White House power structure really is the best practice. Surely, Kelly demanded this sort of power as a condition of taking the job, and that was smart of him.
