Tyson Foods has confirmed that Matt Mika, director of government relations at the company’s Washington, D.C., office, was among those injured in a shooting Wednesday morning at a Republican baseball practice in Alexandria, Va.

“We have confirmed that Matt Mika, director-government relations for our Washington, D.C. office, is among those who was shot this morning in Alexandria,” Tyson Foods said in a statement. “He has been taken to a local hospital and we’re awaiting word on his condition. Matt has worked for Tyson Foods for more than six years and we’re deeply concerned about him and his family.”

Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) confirmed to The Hill that Mika was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

GOP lawmakers visiting Mika at the hospital told the Washington Post that they were unable to get updates on his status.

“Matt Mika, one of the guys who helps us, is here at the hospital,” Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) said. “He’s been a big part of the team for a number of years and just a great athlete, helps us frankly at second base and at shortstop. He’s a great guy.”
