Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is thanking Prince William and Catherine, the duke and duchess of Cambridge, for their support following Russia’s military offensive, expressing gratitude that they’re “[standing] by our country.”
“Olena and I are grateful to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge that at this crucial time, when Ukraine is courageously opposing Russia’s invasion, they stand by our country and support our brave citizens,” Zelensky wrote in an early morning Tuesday Twitter post, referring to his wife.
“Good will triumph,” Zelensky added.
The Ukrainian leader’s message came days after Britain’s royal couple issued a statement supporting the country following its invasion by Russian forces last week.
The second in line to the British throne and his wife recalled meeting Zelensky and his wife in 2020 when they learned “of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future.”
