A number of people are injured and one person has been arrested after a van struck a number of pedestrians outside a mosque in London just after midnight, the BBC and other outlets reported Sunday.
The incident took place in the Finsbury Park neighborhood in the north of London on Seven Sisters Road.
The official Twitter account of the Muslim Council tweeted out a confirmation that the van struck worshippers as they left the mosque.
“BREAKING: We have been informed that a van has run over worshippers as they left #FinsburyPark Mosque. Our prayers are with the victims,” the tweet read.
Harud Khan, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain, also tweeted that he was “shocked and outraged to hear a van has intentionally run over worshippers leaving Ramadan night prayers.”
